Is CBD the answer to the anxiety that many people suffer due to the hectic nature of our daily lives? In this article I will seek to uncover the answer to that question as I look at how CBD affects anxiety.

What is CBD?

CBD, or Cannabidiol, is one of the active components of the cannabis plant. Cannabis is typically known for it’s THC content, which is the property that allows you to feel “high”; however, that is not the only useful property of the plant.

Unlike THC, CBD doesn’t have any psychoactive properties and therefore is ideal for people who want the healing qualities of the drug without the high feeling or any altering to their brain chemistry. CBD has been studied in recent years to discover it’s usefulness in treating insomnia, anxiety and pain among other things.

It’s important to note that although you can find hemp oils in some stores be cautious because hemp seed oil does not contain CBD even though CBD oil is commonly referred to as “Hemp Oil”.

Is CBD Legal?

Yes, CBD is legal in the United States because the majority of CBD is sourced from hemp plants, not from marijuana. Both hemp and marijuana are forms of the cannabis plant and although they both contain CBD hemp plants do not contain THC in large enough quantity to effect anyone. For your CBD to be legal throughout all of the United States it needs to be sourced from Hemp and it must contain less than 0.3% THC


In conclusion CBD might be helpful for the treatment of anxiety. The research is still young but it looks to be promising and the anecdotal evidence suggests that there are definite anxiety reducing benefits from using CBD.
